Smile Train is the world’s largest cleft-focused organization based in New York City of USA, with a sustainable and local model of supporting surgery and other forms of essential care. Over the last 20+ years, we have supported safe and quality cleft care for 1.5+ million children and will continue to do so until every child in need with a cleft has access to the care they deserve.
Bangladesh:
Bangladesh is a developing country in south Asia region with a population of over 150 million. More than 4,000 cleft children born each year in this country. A number of cleft charities of home and abroad are working here. Government health service is also working in this field and gives free service to cleft children. But this is not enough. From December, 2003, Smile Train has been continuing works in Bangladesh. Over 50,000 cleft patients have been so far provided free of cost reconstructive surgery through Smile Train in Bangladesh.

Smile Train CARe Medical College Hospital Cleft Project in Dhaka began its free cleft service in October 2011 and Delta Health Care Ctg Ltd cleft project in chattagram began its free cleft service in October 2019 under dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Bijoy Krishna Das. Till December 2020 more than 7,000 surgeries have been performed in these centers with many more waiting for surgery. Personally Prof. Dr. Bijoy Krishna Das performed more than 9,000 cleft surgeries by December 2020.
